Sharing experience as someone who usually has a lot of ideas and tries to do them all at once because I just get too excited, and my brain somehow works that way. This has both positive and negative effects. The positive side is that I never run out of ideas to work on, project after project, and many things that keep me excited. The obvious negative outcome is that I can't do them all as good as I want, unless I pick only one and concentrate.
Therefore, I'm figuring out a solution that I should build a system to organize my work, and then eventually will help my brain to be more organized as well. The organized brain is super important and that's what I aim for (Read "The Organized Mind" by Daniel Levitin).
A few lessons from my "organizing mind" project:
- Writing down all my ideas as they flow (don't think about perfecting them or organizing them yet)
- Sorting them out: some can be grouped, some can be totally new and that's exciting...
- Don't stress about building everything all at once: I can start with something I'm most excited about and work my way up incrementally. Eventually, I'll figure out some more as long as I don't forget to jot them down
- Having a physical notebook is very helpful and digital devices can't always replace it
